Sharpening Your Saw
When we get ready to paint or try something new those niggling doubts can come clammoring in...
How do I know that "I CAN?"
1. Desire..
(None of us were ready to be parents, but we had the desire so we figured it out!)
2. Begin
Figure out a way to begin , that isn't threatening to you, paint on cardboard, paint in secret if you are embarrased, take a class and have someone hold your hand..
3. Finish it or throw it away...
I know this sounds severe... but we all know what happens if we start something and then loose steam? or it is too hard...We are riddled with guilt right? Out of site out of mind.. either complete it so the guilt doesn't get you.. or toss it.. Goodwill whatever..
Curiously .. I know we have all burned eggs in our lives.. or my personal favorite.. They don't flip right and look really ugly.. or I pop the yolk... Do we keep the evidence? Nope.. we feed the dog... or toss it... The same should apply with projects who's yolk has popped! Then since the men folk are still hungry you begin again or take out the Oatmeal right?
Am I ready for that Class?
Yes!!!
Being ready for class is a mind set, if you know your skills are not quite up to par, but are certain you want to take the class.. Take it! (period) Opportunities do not appear everyday that inspire us.. take the class!
The key is... Don't be a WHINER!
if your not ready or the class is uncomfortable... put your brushes down and take notes. Quietly.
I am taking a three day class from David Jansen March 17, 18 and 19 here in Portland
I am certain that I am not ready for the third day of Zhostovo but I am equally certain that I will learn alot on that day that I didn't know before.
Sharpen Your Saw

Sing with me ladies...
I can bring home the bacon..
Let my husband fry it up in the pan..

Sharpen Your Saw
a man was trying to chop down a tree with a dull saw, he was at it for hours... another man passing by suggested he stop and sharpen the saw... But the man said.. I can't stop to sharpen my saw because I am busy trying to cut down this tree..Dull saws come in all shapes and sizes...
- Bad brushes will never make good art! Buy good ones.. ask a teacher what she recommends
- Isolation won't get you excited like sharing your passion, Take a class, go to convention, teach a friend, surf e-bay, join a painting list
- Skills will never improve if you don't try something new
