Every Painting has a Journey...

Yesterday, as I sat and began my latest assignment... I was very restless...I got the base colors on, but..I couldn't seem to settle into the task.

I have a deadline for this piece though so I forced myself to sit and focus....then the process began...It is really amazing how a piece of inanimate tin can become a journey... A journey of discovery..what does the piece want to say?..What do I as the artsist feel inspired by today?...
As I meandered the paths of this design, coaxing out the look of a Nostalgic Christmas...Add a little stripe here, "Oh.. I know.. I know..some lettering, oh but what font?" hmmm .. When I allowed myself to engage in the journey of that piece a marvelous thing happened...My restlessness left, I was fully involved, and I enjoyed myself...

The piece is finished but it's journey will continue. It will fly off to New Jersey it will appear in a magazine and who knows maybe someone else will be inspired by my afternoon of discovery and paint one of their own, maybe their journey will be one of skill building and they will give it as a gift to develop a journey of friendship.

It occurs to me that every single thing that I do involves a journey.. A journey of Developement.. Discovery...Joy...Pain... and that I hold the power in my hands to "ENGAGE" in the journey and be involved or stand on the sidelines as a disinterested bystander...
