My First Painted Project

My friend kathy told me we were going to learn to "Tole" paint... I asked her what a "TOLE" was and she took me to my first shop... we bought the book from Marie Cole that this project was in .. and promptly went out and bought both of our husbands.. scroll saws...
This is Ted's first project... notice one of the thumbs is... um... shall we say "deformed"????
(grin) I think he has come a long way baby... we won't even talk the painting, OKAY??!!

I cracks me up... Kathy gave me the book and told me to give it a try... please understand that I failed ART in high school... and yes I attended classes... I stayed up ALL NIGHT LONG.. to do this project and in the morning I was so excited about how GREAT?? it was that I hopped on my bike and peddled over to Kathy's and showed her... she was so delighted .. that we right there on the spot decided to go into business.. LOL! We made 100 of these snowmen candycane holders... and hundreds of other items.. I will tell you, it will help you learn to paint when you paint 100 of each thing... Although even with the repetition it took me two years to learn floating... I had young children and the DH worked 80 hours per week.. so no classes for me... One of the reasons I am so passionate about having free lessons online is because of this experience..
I hope this embarrassing moment helps others to be brave and keep on painting!
